Jenni Chase, vice president, workforce development, National Glass Assoc. and Jeff Dalaba, director of program development, AGMT Glazier Certification discussed common missteps and challenges companies face developing internal training programs, as well as strategies to make internal training more effective, improve work quality and empower employees.
Chase and Dalaba presented attendees with a “to-do list” for establishing a successful and lasting program. These steps include:
- Identify the right person to lead the program
- Certify your trainer(s) through AGMT and NCCER
- Enroll employees in MyGlassClass
- Track results and reward performance.
Chase and Dalaba also stressed the importance of incentivizing trainers, who can't take on more tasks and wear more hats without higher pay, new benefits or other incentive.
