Edgetech to Offer Continuing Education Credits

For the convenience of GlassBuild America® 2008 attendees, Edgetech I.G. will once again provide continuing education credits at the American Architectural Manufacturing Association’s (AAMA) “Architects of a Better Mind,” to be held in conjunction with GlassBuild America on Oct. 6 and 7 in Las Vegas. Edgetech has prepared two presentations, which are both approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

“Designing Windows for Improved Sound Attenuation”
Jim Plavecsky, regional sales manager for Edgetech, will present “Designing Windows for Improved Sound Attenuation.” He will cover how sound travels through the window, sound testing and design factors that will dampen sound, such as argon gas filling, glass laminating, controlling air leakage and the use of structural foam spacer systems. Plavecsky has more than 20 years of industry experience with a background that combines polymer chemistry, materials engineering, product management, executive management, marketing and sales.

“Glass: The Right Choice”.
Tracy Rogers, technical director for Edgetech, will present “Glass: The Right Choice.” Rogers’ course will cover uses of glass, types of glass, fabricated glass solutions and measuring and evaluating glass performance. Rogers has more than 20 years of industry experience. He is actively involved with industry task groups, committees and industry trade organizations, including AAMA, the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association and the Glass Association of North America.
